Most of us tend to celebrate big achievements and milestones but overlook small wins. However, small victories often make the backbone of the larger ones.

Celebrating small wins, you become an even better leader, you motivate your team and yourself. Indeed, many successful bosses prefer to celebrate every victory regardless of the size. In this article, I would like to tell you why you should consider doing the same.

When you accomplish something that aligns with your intentions, it is a “small win”. It can be related to any aspect of your life: your habit changes, professional or personal relationships, work etc. Small wins often go unnoticed, but they are actually very important for our motivation. They do not change the world but give us the strength to move further and achieve more. You should always notice and appreciate small wins.

Many people are not used to celebrating small wins as they see them as something unimportant. You should always pause and appreciate a small victory. Do not rush from one task to another, otherwise, you may become demotivated and exhausted very fast. Also, small wins may vary from one person to another. Something that seems small to you can be enormous to someone else.

Whether it is a team working on a particular project or only one person moving towards a big goal, the way can be very hard and long. The big goal might always seem to be so far away and anyone can easily lose motivation. When you celebrate a small win, you encourage your team or yourself. You see that you are one more step closer to completing the main goal. This helps keep going for longer.

Pause and acknowledge your progress. You worked hard and should be proud of yourself. Even if you have made some mistakes, you are still moving forward and getting closer and closer to your main goal. You can write down your victories and progress the same way you write down your goals. Therefore, whenever you feel down, you can look at your notes and see how many things you achieved. It will make you feel better and give you the strength to move on.

Always treat yourself for achieving goals, no matter small or big. Celebrate your small win and do something you enjoy. Get your favourite dish, watch your favourite show, give yourself a gift etc. The bigger your accomplishment is the bigger reward you should get. Rewards may give you the motivation to work harder.

Share your wins with someone close

If you share your accomplishments with close people, for sure they will be happy for you. They will also encourage you to achieve even more. Sharing your victories makes you feel more accountable because you put your reputation on the line. You can even organize a small celebration party or dinner.

Take some time or a day off

Take a break and get yourself completely off work. Focus on other things and refresh your mind. You will be able to concentrate better when you get back to the task. Never rush on things or force results to come, things will happen at the right time.
