Millions of cigars are sold in Moscow every year to many businessmen and cigar lovers and the number is constantly growing.
There are many cigar bars and lounges in Moscow, where you can find a vast array of different cigars from all over the world and enjoy the atmosphere to the fullest. In this article, I would like to tell you more about one of my favourite places – Romanov Cigar Lounge in Moscow, where the cigar’s culture is represented at its best.
About Romanov Cigar Lounge in Moscow
Located in the heart of the city, the lounge offers a large assortment of different cigars including limited collections. This sophisticated place features a stylish interior, nice music, friendly staff and outstanding service. There is a big humidor room stocked with cigars from the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Nicaragua and Honduras. You can enjoy a cigar, invite your partner for a business meeting or have a dinner with your family. The menu is quite extensive and everyone can find something to his taste. This cosy lounge is highly recommended for all cigar lovers.
Cigars
As mentioned above, the lounge offers a great selection of different cigars. Davidoff and Arturo Fuente are the most popular brands in Romanov Cigar Lounge in Moscow.
Arturo Fuente Company was founded more than 100 years ago. From the very beginning, their main focus was the quality: quality tobacco, quality craftsmanship. They take all the necessary time to create truly remarkable cigars. These principles helped them win loyalty of many cigar connoisseurs. These Dominican cigars come in a wide variety of sizes and shapes, from mellow to full-bodied strengths. Most of them are quite affordable and offer a flawless consistency with rich taste.
Recently I have tried the Arturo Fuente Opus X 20th Anniversary, which symbolizes the Opus X’s two decades of making a magnificent cigar. It is a limited edition premium cigar. The Opus X 20th Anniversary is medium-strength robusto, which has a smooth flavour profile with notes of cedar, cream, and spice.
Davidoff is a Swiss premium brand of cigars. The cigars are produced in the Dominican Republic and Honduras. At Davidoff, they believe in the importance of time as well. It takes time to create an outstanding cigar, and it takes time to enjoy it. The Core Davidoff cigars are Millenium, Grand Cru and Signature. Many cigar lovers call such cigars “white label” due to the bands that adorn each of them. From rare limited editions to the classic flavourful lines, Davidoff cigars provide an unmatched taste experience.
I really appreciate medium-strength Premium Dominican Cigars produced by Arturo Fuente and Davidoff, but I am truly in love with Cigarros Manrique produced by my friend Roberto Rodriguez Pardal.
Bar
The Romanov Cigar Lounge in Moscow offers an excellent selection of drinks as well. You can pair your cigar with spirits (whiskey, rum, cognac, bourbon) or try it with a cocktail, tea or coffee.
My favourite cocktail is Negroni and it is extremely good at the Romanov Cigar Lounge in Moscow. Negroni contains Gin, Vermouth Rosso, Campari in equal parts and has refreshingly bitter and robust flavour. This cocktail is the perfect choice for a strong cigar. The origins of many cocktails are regularly subject to debate. The most popular version of this cocktail’s origin says that it was invented in 1919 at Caffe Casoni in Florence, Italy. The story tells that Count Camillo Negroni asked a fellow bartender Fosco Scarselli to strengthen his favourite cocktail Americano by replacing soda with gin. Fosco Scarselli prepared the drink and added the orange garnish. Since then, everyone was coming to the bar for Negroni. The cocktail remains a timeless classic to the present day. Due to the drink’s success, the Negroni Distillery was founded in 1919 in Italy. The Negroni family produced there a ready-made version of the cocktail and sold it as Antico Negroni. The distillery is still operating under the ownership of another family.
Sometimes I can pair a cigar with my favourite Herbal tea. It has a huge variety of flavours, which can range from subtle notes of berries and chamomile to more intensive cinnamon and mint. There is no universal rule of how to match herbal tea with cigars, because one herbal tea may completely differ from another. This is a choice of more experienced smokers as here you should know how to match the strength of the tea with the strength of the cigar.
However, you may pair cigars and herbal tea according to the flavours. For example, you may match fruit or berry tea with a cigar that has fruity notes, while cinnamon tea can be wonderfully paired with a cigar that has woody, spicy or smoked notes.
