Nowadays, the most effective advertising is via social networks, but all of them are different and have different specific features.

Instagram has appeared in a wave of smartphone usage growth, when people had an urge to publish their photo and video content directly from their smartphone. It was fast solution for them – in several second their friends were able to see their photos. So, Instagram is a platform specifically for sharing images and videos which made a revolution and gained its popularity very quickly.

Instagram filters the content that users see based on different parameters, such as the preferred list of friends/family/connections, as well as viral images and videos by virtue of being so popular that people keep viewing and sharing them.
When placing a sponsored add it will appear the first but in a content that user would naturally see as Instagram filters it according user’s preferences.
When advertising you can determine your target audience as it does Facebook. Choose cities or countries you want your add to be shown. Target audience selection is the same as Facebook does because it owns Instagram.

An the most important is the right content. As Instagram is a visual platform for sharing photos and videos, make sure to use highly attractive content with photos or a short video. Don’t put too much text, as the platform wasn’t designed for it. Another option is to opt for carousel ads placing 2-3 photos, try to play with it, making whole pattern divided by your photos. Or share your story via carousel.
Use marketing tricks, for example appeal to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs (promote security, values, importance, hunger, etc). If you know the wants and needs of their target market then this can be used as a selling point to influence.
Don’t forget to use call to action button, for example you can choose among options – install, go to website, reserve, etc.
The Cost of Advertising on Instagram
Instagram payment system is the same Google Adwords and Facebook use – so called cost per click, the most popular click has the highest price and you pay only for click being made by potential customers.
