Line has launched its own e-commerce platform
Popular Messenger in Asia LINE has launched its own e-commerce platform in March, 2019. It’s called Line Shopping. The response was amazing - 2.5 million active users a month. The number of shoppers through the platform is aimed at reaching 8 million by this year.
What is LINE?
You might not have heard of the messaging app Line but it’s the most popular app of its kind in Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan and Japan
In addition, Line is a platform providing various services including digital wallet as Line Pay, news stream as Line Today, video on demand as Line TV, and digital comic distribution as Line Manga and Line Webtoon. The service is operated by Line Corporation, a subsidiary of Korean internet search engine company, Naver Corporation..
So, if you work in e-commerce and you want to get some clients from Asia and visibility, I strongly advise you to have a proper look to this platform.
Initial idea of LINE developers’ team is to provide a wide assortment of items from 15 major online marketplaces. Among these marketplaces customer can find products from Lazada, Shopee, Advice, Makro, Asia Books, All About You, Aston, Beauticool, Beauty Plaza, TV Direct, Wellness Mark Shop, Nespresso, MISSHA and It's Skin. All these marketplaces are very well positioned in Asia.
Another interesting thing of new product is that Line is partnering with Priceza, a price comparison platform, what will help to offer its customers the best price product. Basically, it will find cheapest product from many marketplaces. Sounds good, right? Also, the platform will notify a customer when the price changes.
Another competitive advantage is LINE will use its own CRM system and algorithms of artificial intelligence to offer the bets experience to a user.
According to Lertad Supadilok, head of e-commerce business for Line Thailand Line foresees e-commerce will have a high growth.
Kasikorn Research Center say growth will be about 16 % per year and the market value could rise to about 470 billion baht in 2022.
I personally believe in power of messengers, where now the most people are doing most of their activities, all communication (whether personal or work) is concentrated there. When a Messenger offers additional functions to their users, I consider it a very intelligent move and LINE platform does it brilliant!
