Golden tips for successful presentation
If you are going to have a presentation soon, read this article, I will share with you my golden tips how to do it the best way possible!
1. Be or not to be?
First of all, there is no way not to feel nervous before the presentation, the fear is normal reaction in your body, that actually helps you by elevating your level of adrenaline. These biochemical reactions will help you to concentrate and to react faster. Just accept it, because there are 2 type of speakers – those who are nervous and those who are liars. So, my advice is - be a liar and enjoy your presentation.
Another fundamental thing is preparation, without a proper preparation no presentation can have a success, so the earlier you start to prepare, the better for you. Include interesting facts, jokes and useful trick to engage your audience.
3. Effective start is a must
You can start with a shocking fact. Try to make your start differently, show some numbers and ask the audience to guess their meaning (the numbers could be some statistic facts about you, your company or a project). They wouldn’t except it, would they? Beginning your presentation with something unpredictable will immediately get attention and predispose the audience to believe this is something worthy to listen to.
4. Connect with your audience
Communicate with your audience, ask them questions, it will help to make people awake and not to lose its attention. Show some visual materials, include interesting facts.
5. Story telling
Recently, I have started to include a story telling into my presentation. Your story shall start with one’s problem, crisis, difficult situation, effective solution and a conclusion (how this solution has helped to achieve results). The audience start to feel more empathy with you and thus you give them hope that they also can have a happy end (by buying your product or using the same strategy as you).
6. Other tips
During my career I had a lot of presentation held and I can advice you to play with your voice tone, velocity to put accent on different parts of the speech. Your tone of voice, your body language is crucial to getting your message across. Make sure that you are giving the right messages: body language to avoid includes crossed arms, hands held behind your back or in your pockets, and pacing the stage.
